OUR HISTORY

With the demand for smaller, flexible, and wearable electronic devices increasing exponentially, leading electronics manufacturers faced a technical hurdle in their production. The restrictive shapes of certain devices were hindering the maximization of spatial efficiency, as the necessary electronic components did not fit appropriately in smaller devices or devices with non-flat surfaces. This challenge, therefore, gave rise to a particular demand for 3D-printed microelectronics that conform to the surfaces of these devices with complex shapes.

However, 3D-printed electronics manufacturers and researchers faced production limitations due to an unsatisfactory level of precision and lack of integrated tool sets to facilitate the efficient completion of true 3D microelectronic components. These manufacturers thus had to utilize several different specialized machines to perform specific processes integral to fabricating a complete microelectronic component, which depleted valuable resources such as money and time.

With these two issues in mind, university researchers working for the Department of Defense (DoD) founded 3DFlexible Inc. in 2016 to introduce an exceptional solution to overcome existing challenges: quality, trust, and workforce development, based on market-proven and industry-standard hardware and software.

3DFlexible developed the first integrated 3D printer for flexible hybrid electronics (FHE) that not only consists of a customizable variety of 3D printing tools and processes, but also exceeds many performance objectives established by existing technological consortiums or companies. For this innovative, integrated machine, 3DFlexible Inc. has received several accolades and awards from renowned institutes such as Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR), and NextFlex. Today, 3DFlexible Inc. continually strives to be an active, client-oriented pioneer in the frontiers of 3D-printed microelectronics technology.

OUR MISSION

3DFlexible aims to provide clients with a highly customized 5-axis, all-in-one 3D-printed electronics digital manufacturing and packaging system capable of producing a FHE platform with multifunctional capabilities (syringe, Aerosol, inkjet, laser, PnP, etc.) for high precision circuits with exceptionally low electrical resistance on curved rigid or flexible surfaces.
